im sure there is to see if your pelvis or something is to small? my mums pelvis(think it was that) was too small and she had to have 3 c-sections but the first time she was trying to give birth was in the 70's so they didnt know at first and then they new after an emergency c-section she was to small to give birth naturaly. do they have a way to see this now or do you still have to wait? thanx
Can you have a test done to see if you need a c-section?
There is no way to know before going though with labor whether or not a baby will fit.
The Pelvis is a jointed bone, and is flexible during labor to allow a baby to pass, and the babys head is also flexible allowing for molding so it can pass...what is known as the cone head.
At one time (and some still do) doctors thought that a womans shoe size was in conjunction with her pelvis...they also used to take pelvemity readings to try to estimate if a baby will fit...We know better or should know better now.
That like I said that both the baby and pelvis allow for room to deliver a baby...
Being in a squatting psoition also helps as it allows to opening of your pelvis to open upto 33% bigger...that end up being about 1 inch bigger..versus lying on your back which actually collapses the pelvic opening.
Usually true CPD, cephalopelvic disproportion (baby too big or pelvis too small or both) is very rare, occuring only in women who have had very poor nutrition and have Rickets or that have fractured their pelvis in an accident. Dr.'s use CPD as a "catch all" reason when they really don't know why a baby wasn't born vaginally.
I say try for a normal vaginal birth as your risks of serious complications are lower, than with having major abdominal surgery for what may or may not be an issue!
Reply:There is no test that I know of.
I found out after being in labor with my oldest son for twelve hours (induced at the hospital) that I would need a c-section
even though the doctor and I knew he was going to be big because I had gained fifty pounds during the pregnancy and whatever other ways the doctor can tell that he was big.
I had a scheduled c-section for my second and third son
I also gained fifty pounds with each of these pregnancies.
I am currently 27 weeks pregnant and going to have my last
scheduled c-section in May. All I know for sure is that I have big babies and I have to have c-sections.
Reply:i wish someone know the answer because i am concern for myself if i can deliver naturally dunno if height and weight plays a role because i am only 4'10 ft 18 weeks preggy and weighing 110.
Reply:they wont be able to tell u if u need a c section untill u r in active labor.. but good luck
Reply:They used to use a set of measurements, and they were usually wrong. So many women in the past were forced into c-sections because of it. Pelvises were designed to open and move during labor. That is why it is recommended that you move around during labor to find what is comfortable. You can move the baby out faster that way.
Reply:it will depend on the size of your baby and back then once you had 1 c-section you wernt allowed to try to give birth naturally because the pushing could tear your uterus
Reply:No, not that I know of. Your doctor will determine that. No test needed.

Is there a point to takea a 3-hour glucose test if I am 32 weeks pregnant?
I am 32 weeks pregnant now, and after my 1-hour glucose test, the doctor told me that my sugar levels are elevated and I need to take the 3 hour test. By the time i take it and get the results, I will be at least 33 weeks. I am having a planned C-section at 38 weeks. Is there a point for going through the 3-hour test then?
Is there a point to takea a 3-hour glucose test if I am 32 weeks pregnant?
Yes! I had the same thing happen and had to go for the 3 hour test...they are looking to see if you are diabetic which can cause complications if left untreated. It is not a difficult test as you know, but only 3 hours out of your day to ensure the well being of both you and your baby.
Reply:yes, do you really think your doctor would send you for a 3 hour test just for the fun of it. Diabetes could cause alot of problems with you, your baby and with the delivery. If you have pregnancy onset diabetes you need to be treated for your and your babies safety. The doctor aslo needs to know so they are prepared if there is any difficulties during delivery. Take the test. Good Luck.
Reply:Yes, you really need to go through w/ the 3 hour test.
However, there are a lot of false positives on the 1 hour test so everything may come out negative in the end.
Reply:The three hour test is going to better determine if you do in fact have gestational diabetes. I was diagnosised at 28 weeks. I had to go on a high protein, low carb diet and take insulin. I had an ultrasound a week later and they determined that my baby was already measuring over two weeks larger then he should. After being on insulin and controlling my diet and sugar readings, he's stopped growing so rapidly and now is measuring only a week ahead of where I am.
Even though it is really late in your pregnancy, it is still a good idea to make sure that you do everything you can to control your sugar levels, for yourself and for your baby. It's great that you are having a C-section because the eliminates a lot of the risk involved with the baby being too large to deliver. But, there are still complications that can arrise. When you have uncontrolled GD, the baby takes the burden of producing the extra insulin that you need. This can cause the baby's sugar levels to "crash" at birth and puts a lot of stress on the babies pancreas. Usually it is perfectly treatable with a stay in the NICU for a few days and close monitoring, but who wants that for their baby if they can avoid it!
The other thing, is by managing your GD you reduce your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes later in life and reduce the baby's risk of developnig Type 1 Diabetes.
So....to sum it up, you should take the three hour, even if just for your own peace of mind. In the mean time, I would live as if I had GD, meaning watch your diet and limit your carb intake.
Good luck!
Reply:Yes! Getting your glucose levels lower and maintained at lower levels will decrease your and your infants mortality levels as well as minimize your infants stay in the NICU (which is where the baby is heading if you don't take care of your glucose levels, that or the morgue). How you respond to the 3 hour test will tell your doctor how best to manage your glucose levels and whether or not you have gestational diabetes.
And I will tell you if I were your doctor and you refused I would be unwilling to treat you without some liability waivers being signed!

Describe a standard test for the following stubstances: a)oxygen gas, b)hydrogen gas, c)carbon dioxide gas.?
a) Light splinter of wood. Blow out flame until there is a faint glow on the end of the splinter. Plunge glowing splinter into sample gas. If oxygen, splinter flares into vigorous flame.
b) Place lighted splinter at mouth of test tube. If loud "Whoop!" then hydrogen.
c) Pour calcium hydroxide solution, Ca(OH)2, into container. Shake. If clear liquid becomes milky, then carbon dioxide.

You are inspecting a test plot of tomatoes. Answer this biology question please?
You are inspecting a test plot of tomatoes. Temperature is 33 C, relative humidity is 40% (low) and the wind is 5-10 mph. Would you expect the stomata of the plants to be open or closed. Explain your answer
i have no idea what the answer here is, can someone help me?
You are inspecting a test plot of tomatoes. Answer this biology question please?
hmmm. i would think closed. its relatively warm and humidity is low so if the stomata are open, there will be a lot of evaporation , exactly what the plant doesn't want.
Reply:Closed
google open and closed stomata and you will find quite a bit of info
Reply:Try doing some homework on your own..Obviously it was discussed in your class/ readings what the requirments are for tomato plants stomata to be opened or closed.
Who on earth would know something like this?????
Come on!!

I'm going to take my driver's test to get my permit i was wondering how the test would be?
I will take this in Alabama.Do you write out answers or do you chose from selected answers?Around how many questions will be on the test?In grading would a C and above be passable? Also any other information is appreciated.
I'm going to take my driver's test to get my permit i was wondering how the test would be?
I just took my permit test Monday. I took it in North Carolina and it was a simple multiple choice test. They ask a question, on a computer, and you choose which of the 3 is the correct answer. In NC you must get no more than 5 wrong with a 20 question test.
I thought it was EXTREMELY easy and only missed 1 question, that only because my driver's ed teacher told me wrong.
Reply:IT is multiple choice Mine hade 30 questions and if you read the manual, it's pretty much a piece of cake. If you have a choice, take the computer testAnd I'm pretty sure you can't miss more than 4 questions.
Reply:The first test you take will be on the computer,if you fail, the next time you can choose a written test or computer again.I'm pretty sure there are 30 questions and you can't get more than 7 wrong or you fail. You choose from selected answers(a,b,c,d).
Reply:easy!! read the manual, and go over it a little bit, but use common sense and get a good night of sleep before any test-- can't hurt!! Good luck.
Reply:its easy, just dont drive in your good car...i took my 3 series BMW and the proctor couldnt fit in the car! she was a fat azz
