Positive pregnancy test 4 weeks after d &C?

i have been feeling sick and throwing up the last few days, have been very tired and had killer headaches


took a hpt and a got a very light positive


I had a d%26amp;c 4 weeks ago though I was 6wk


could this be a new pregnancy or hormones from the old one

My sister had the same situation and was not pregnant - it can take awhile for the hormones to get out of your system.
Reply:It is possible your pregnant as you are at your most fertile after a miscarriage. ( not sure if this is the same as after an abortion though,but I suppose it must be )


I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks and was told as it was early the pregnancy hormone should be gone within a week or two.


I think the only definate way you can tell whether your pregnant or not is through a blood test.
Reply:did you have a follow up appointment with a confirmed negative pregnancy test that also confirmed that the procedure was successful? If not I would suggest going to a doctor... If you did have a confirmed negative pregnancy test at your follow up appointment then yes this would be a new pregnancy.





If you had a follow up appointment and they determined that the procedure was successful but you did not show negative on the pregnancy test yet than it could go either way. Basically in any case I would suggest seeking medical attention..





Also if you did not have a follow up appointment and you have those symptoms and a fever, screw the doctor and go straight to the ER...
Reply:it could be new hormones. My hcg levels dropped fast after a miscarriage and I got pregnant 4 weeks after with my daughter. because of your last miscarriage your levels prob weren't that high because of the unhealthy pregnancy so they prob never had the chance to get that high to linger for four weeks. I heard that after you have a full term baby you might have the hormones for up to three weeks and you didn't get that far so this could be a new pregnancy it happened for me

Reply:hi i know how you feel i had a miscarriage and had to have a /dc on the 12/3 i am now testing positive to a new pregnancy just under 5 weeks after i phoned and spoke to my doctor who said it was defo a new pregnancy as the hormons take approx 3-4 weeks to come out of your body i also tested very faint where you could only just bout see the line but a gave it a few more days tested again and it was a bit stronger then i gave it a few more days and it is now a strong positive. im going for a scan the 29th to check all is ok as of what ive just been through they are going to keep a extra eye on me. i hope all is good for you and my advise would be test again in bout three days and see what happens. lots of luck x
Reply:To tell you the truth Im not sure and I dont think anyone can give you a definate answer but a doctor you should be able to call and ask the clinic where you got the procedure done and they can give you the right answer.
Reply:I would think a new pregnancy. After they do a D%26amp;C the hormones go down.
Reply:My friend confirmed her pregnancy 2 weeks after her D%26amp;C AND found out she was already more than 6 weeks along.....





Get a blood or urine test to confirm....That will give u peace of mind:)
