What is the best answer to choose on a multiple choice test when you are unsure of the answer-B or C???

What you need to do is start sampling this particular teacher's questions and use statistical analysis to see if he/she favors any one choice. There are a number of easy statistical analyses that should work well to see if there is any significant variation -- though of course if you're willing to go to this much work, you're probably better off listening in class.

By the way DO NOT try this on standardized tests like the SAT. These tests penalize you for wrong answers to eliminate any benefit gained from random guessing. That is to say, for any question there are four wrong choices and one right choice. You get a point for a right answer and lose a quarter point for each wrong answer, so if you guessed at random you'd get four wrong for each right answer, and lose as many points as you gain.

Nifty, huh.

Flip a coin, chum !

If you had listened attentively in class, you wouldn't need to ask this question - or receive such answers.

No multiple choice test is arranged so that the correct answer is in A, B, C or D, by any predetermined formula.

...In one such test, I found that ALL the correct answers were positioned as 'C's - which confused me such a lot, as to whether I was the one who was wrong !

[Thank God, I still stuck to the 'C's - and topped the lists !]
Reply:there is no relevent background that c's or b's come up more often then others. if you are in a lower grade c's came out alot because teachers tried to teach you to read all the answers and not jump into conclusion
Reply:which ever won that has the best info about the question and the won that might have the best sophisticated anwer
Reply:i tried C for a while.

then i switched to B.

either way, you're screwed.
Reply:You have to alternate between the two. I think that improves the odds.
