Can Hepatitis C cause a false positive on a drug test?
Absolutely NOT,
Hepatitis C, posess an specific RNA virus (hepadnavirus). and that is what the specific test detects...
No cross reactivity is possible with a test that measures other completely unrelated substances, (for any drug)
Reply:I don't know about a false positive, but I have a co-worker that tested positive and then tested negative.
Her dr told her that some people's bodies are able to fight and kill the virus. Don't know about all of that, that's just what her doc said.
Reply:yes
Reply:Hepatitis C is a viral disease that affects the liver. Presence of the virus does not affect the chemicals in the blood that are detected by drug tests. However, people with Hep C often have dark-colored urine, but the color should not affect a urine drug test.
