Why did my Gyno test for C. Trachomatis and N. Gonorrhoeae? I am concerned that this is not a routine check.?

It depends on what brought you to the doctor's office. It's standard to do this with any discharge or abd pain. Otherwise there shouldn't be any reason to check it, unless you expressed any concern

Those are the 2 STD tests routinely done if you are sexually active and go in for a Pap smear. The tests are typically done using a swab of the cervix. If you are not sexually active, there really is no need for them to be done.

(C. trachomatis is Chlamydia, and N. gonorrhoeae is the organism that causes gonorrhea.)
Reply:It's possible that the doctor observed something unusual that may have resembles the presence of one of these STD's. Both are curable 100% with the correct medications.
Reply:with some sti's there are no symptoms...perhaps your dr thought if you hadn't been tested for some time it would not be a bad idea to get screening done.it is routine for sexually active women
