Why do I seem to fail every test?

It doesn't matter how much I study, I have never gotten above a C on a test. I do good on the assignments but I always do really bad on tests. Is there a certain reason for this?

Why do I seem to fail every test?
Taking tests is a skill, maybe you need to practice. It's natural for people to struggle when taking a test. I would have your parents or friends create some example tests for you. Then try taking the example tests while timing how long it takes you to do them.

By taking more tests under pressure you will get better at them.
Reply:Its called test anxiety and its normal. Talk to your teachers some may understand.
Reply:yes there is a syndrome having to do with that- I can't remember its name right now but many many brilliant people have that problem.

they do great at everything else, they just have too much anxiety or a mental block when it comes to tests

here is a link on "what is test anxiety syndrome"
Reply:I am the same way. Are you nervous before the test? Do you over think your answers? Change your answers?

Try to relax and go with your first instinct for your answers. Usually they are right.

Try to pretend that you are not taking a test, just doing homework. You are not the only one who studies hard and does not test well.

Talk to your teachers, maybe they have ideas to help or they can ask you the questions one on one.
Reply:I have the same problem. It is because the teacher puts other stuff on the test than what you studied and I also have ADD, but he usually will put the stuff in between what you studied on the test. I have those problems too
Reply:Maybe u just freak out when u are taking your tests. I know there some peeps who are smart and know the stuff they being tested on but when they take test they just like forget everything or like mind go blank and cant think of answers. id talk 2 u teachers about it with your dad cos he know u study and see if they can help u since they will know u know what u are studying.
Reply:maybe you need to not study? im in calculus and i never study and my lowest grade aws a 95%
Reply:hey im the EXACT same way. having my mom read stuff to me because i learn better by listening. you might want to try different learning styles.
Reply:Dezbird is referring to something like Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) which can be managed by prescribed medications. Or maybe it's your study technique. All the facts, formulas, dates, names, theory isn't sinking in properly. You have to explore ways which work best for you. Have a word with your teachers and they may have some helpful suggestions. If you feel that no matter how hard you study, or have a real struggle with learning just about anything, it might be a wise idea to see a psychologist about exploring a possible diagnosis into ADD or ADHD. It's nothing to be ashamed about. My best friend had a pretty serious learning difficulty at school, always failing his subjects, and struggled with learning to read and write properly. He now manages the largest and most innovative ISP on the east coast. Nothing is impossible. Best of luck
Reply:Maybe you have test anxiety. You should study some and then try and relax before the test.
Reply:There's a strong possibility that fear is your biggest issue. You've done poorly in the past and put so much pressure on yourself that when the exam time comes, you freeze up.

This isn't your fault, you're probably feeling the pressure from home, teachers and maybe even classmates, but try to relax. Exams aren't everything. A grade isn't equivalent to intelligence.

Study hard, but not too hard. Try doing word associations as a helpful memory trick. Get a good nights sleep before your exams, and just do your best.

Also, try to convince yourself that you can succeed. Confidence is everything in life. Embrace yourself, all of yourself; faults alike.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
Reply:i wish i had your c sssssssssssssss.
Reply:it could be possible that you have test anxiety. you talk to your teachers about it. it doesn't matter how much you study you still can't seem to pass. your teachers could possibly arrange a new way for you to test so you won't be so nervous
