If my results came back pending for hep c does this mean i got the virus?

i was tested hep a %26amp; b which came back negative but my test for hep c was pending, i was given a appointment for the hep c clinic does this mean i have hep c?

If my results came back pending for hep c does this mean i got the virus?
If the lab truly said 'pending' then the result hasn't come back yet and I wouldn't worry about it until it does. Often with Hep C, though, the first result just shows whether you've ever had the disease and then subsequent test need to be done to show whether you still have it and whether it is active. But this latter case wouldn't return a result of 'Pending' - it would show that you were 'positive' for a certain type of Hep c antibody. Good luck - Hope for the best!!
Reply:"Pending" means that the results are not ready or available yet. That's all. Don't read into it. Some tests take longer to perform than others.

A prime example is a cholesterol screening called a VAP. That test takes 2 weeks to result.

Don't panic.

Reply:If you were given an appointment with a hepc clinic, chances are you've tested positive for hcv. Further testing will follow with the correct doctor at the clinic.

Folks, read the question.

Now, please keep in touch. HCV is one of those diseases that many have but do not know it. Lets hope your further lab results will end in antibodies only- not active HCV.

As for the above poster- there is no such thing as having HCV but have it not active. HCV is either resolved (In about 15%) or Chronic Active.

As always, HCV isn't a death sentence and the earlier one treats, the better the chance for a sustained viralogic response (cure), with antiviral chemotherapy.

Furthermore, do not fall victim to all those cure alls, antidotes, electromagnetic machines, mega vitamins or juices...those do not cure anyone for anything.

The most important thing I can tell you is that HCV is a blood borne disease. This means that you cannot spread it unless your blood comes into contact through someone elses bloodstream. HCV is not a true STD because HCV can only be infectious through the blood to bloodstream of another.

As always, respect yourself and wear a condom- there are worse diseases out there.

Please keep in touch!
Reply:If they gave you an appointment at a Hep C clinic, I would say that you probably tested positive. But, stay calm and don't worry too much. I've had Hep C for over 20 years and my mom had it for about 40 years before she took the treatment and cleared it. Hep C does not mean a death sentence. Most people live perfectly healthy lives with the virus. Go to the appointment and if you are positive, let us know. A few of us on here are capable of giving reliable, trustworthy information to help you through all your questions!...Good luck!!
