Positive pregnancy test 5wks after m/c?

had a m/c 5 wks ago at 7wks pg.I m/c naturally and had no d%26amp;c,my dr did a u/s and said my uterus was empty.I bled medium for 1 wk then light for 1wk,on wk 3 i had my period but ever since i still spot at least once every 2 days but usually just a very small amount.I have taken a pregnancy test today at 5wks post m/c and i got a light positive, could this mean im pg again or is it just pregnancy hormone from my m/c?I have been having slight cramping off and on as well.Im not sure what to make of it

A pregnancy test can show that you are pregnant up to 8 weeks after having a miscarriage or giving birth because the pregnancy hormone hcg can remain in your system for that long.

This is a very good site for you to visit: http://www.miscarriagesupport.org.nz/hea...

Q: How soon after a miscarriage will an HPT be reliable?

A: It varies. Sometimes it takes awhile for hCG levels to go back to zero, so it is possible to get a positive HPT from a miscarriage for a month or more after a loss. If hCG levels were followed back to zero, then a positive HPT should indicate a new pregnancy.

Reply:That is a very good question, unfortunately I don't think anyone here will be able to give you a direct answer.

Did you have blood test taken after your miscarriage? I had a miscarriage on Sept 8th and just got done with AF I had blood test taken a few times to check my HCG levels to be sure the miscarriage was progressing on its own. My final test was done Monday and I had an HCG level of 5 meaning I am back to pre-pregnancy levels.

If you hadn't had test done to be sure your levels went back to normal, then it could be just leftover hormones from your pregnancy. I would suggest calling your doctor and they will probably suggest a blood test to see what your levels are now, and if they are real low its probably the last pregnancy. But they will probably want to do at least 2 probably 48 hours apart to see if they are lowering or rising.

Good Luck!
Reply:It just sounds like the hormones from the last pregnancy. If you have had sex there is a chance but if you did not have a d%26amp;c it would be a little more difficult right this moment. Plus if youve had your period its very unlikely.
